Parents and carers of children with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties (SpLD) are being asked to become parent champions to help families affected by SpLD in their local area.

The scheme, being run by the Dyslexia-SpLD Trust, is looking for volunteers to give an hour a month to keep the charity in touch with local needs and issues, and to provide information to others in the community.

“Our parent champions will play a vital role because they understand the challenges mums and dads are facing”, says Trust member Tim Mungeam. “We’re not looking for experts. We’re looking for people who care – who know what families are going through and can offer support at a time when many parents feel isolated.”
